After I took my coach training 10 years ago and before I launched my coaching business, I attended the first Christian Coaches Network conference in Virginia Beach (VA) in 2003. It was so inspiring and energizing to connect with other Christians with diverse backgrounds, training and vision for coaching! I felt connected to a bigger community, enjoyed rich discussions, shared fervent prayers and learned so much! Since then, I’ve attended CCN live conferences in 2005 and 2007 and participated in the 2009 THRIVE eSummit and I found each event to be valuable in the same ways.

As an admitted coaching geek, I want to wholeheartedly recommend the IMPACT eSummit! Aspiring, new and established professional coaches will find a wealth of information, education and community. The pre-conference day is today and already attendees have been blessed with rich inspiration and actionable learning! But you haven’t missed out yet! The main IMPACT 2014 eSummit is scheduled for NEXT WEEK – September 29 to October 3. And you can register to receive recordings of all sessions if you can’t attend the live sessions.

When you’re ready to register just click here.

The location is at your convenience – you can participate from wherever you are with Internet and/or phone access. And the content is absolutely fantastic – last time I counted there were 27 speakers and 38 sessions! Wow!

The topics include everything from coaching skills to business development to integrating faith with the practice of coaching. The speakers are from a variety of training backgrounds and niches. Many speakers are notable pioneers in Christian coaching and many hold impressive credentials. I’m excited to hear it all!

There has never been an event like this, with this much rich content specifically for Christian coaches! In my opinion, the value far exceeds the financial investment for anyone who is serious about becoming a coach or growing a coaching business or ministry. You can even get ICF CCEUs for many of the sessions if you choose. If you can’t attend all the sessions in real time, you can pay a bit more to receive the recordings of all the sessions.

Check it out and register here.

I’ll be moderating the evening sessions of the Impact eSummit and I hope to “see” you there!

Founded in 1998 with the tag line of “catalyst and conduit for Christian coaches,” CCN is the oldest professional Christian coaching organization in existence. Member coaches have trained at a variety of coach training schools and CCN is not affiliated with any one training school. As a member of this diverse professional network of Christian coaches, I have forged relationships and created partnerships that have significantly impacted my career and ministry as a coach.

Recently, there have been some changes at the Christian Coaches Network website– some tweaks and enhancements that are worth taking a look at if you haven’t visited the site lately. For examples, more general coaching industry information has been added and there is a schedule of events presented by member Christian coaches.

Upcoming events include featured speakers (and CCN Members) Dr. Keith Webb, Professional Certified Coach, author of The COACH Model for Christian Leaders (October 23), and Dr. MaryAnn Diorio, speaking on Overcoming Limiting Thoughts (December 4). I will be partnering with CCN to present “How to Become a Coach” on October 23.

Whether you are thinking of becoming a coach or are a new or seasoned coach, I recommend that you check out CCN and consider becoming a member!

Some may be surprised by my need to clarify the issue discussed in my post today. Others see the need as obvious. Whatever your perspective is, my desire is to again give you information that helps you make the Christian coach training decision that is uniquely right for you.

Five Things to Know About Christian Coach Training: Post 2

Christian coach trainers express a compelling desire to honor Christ and the authority of Bible in their training. This is true of all the programs featured in my ebook. Some programs use spiritual language and biblical references more profusely than others in their marketing materials. But all acknowledge the centrality of Christ and cite the Bible as the authoritative word of God.

Integrating Christian faith and biblical principals with coaching concepts and practices is the focus of Christian coach training programs. As you read marketing materials and review programs you may want to know more about how a particular program integrates Christian precepts with coach training. Maybe you have questions about how a program uses scripture or views the work of the Holy Spirit in coaching, for examples. If you have these questions, contact programs directly and allow program directors to speak for themselves. When considering these types of questions, base your evaluations of programs on your direct communication with representatives from each program.

The current edition of The Complete Guide to Christian Coach Training featuresfifteen programs that teach classic coaching in a Christian context. Included are thorough descriptions of certification and accreditation. Eleven decision-making factors for how to choose coach training are identified. The ebook goes beyond answering the obvious questions and equips those new to the field with the answers they need in order to make great decisions for themselves. Learn more about the ebook by clicking HERE.

Tomorrow’s post will address the question, “how important is accrediation and certification?'”

I will be at the blog regularly this week. Feel free to post questions here or email me at: CoachLinda at ChristianCoachingResources dot com

Recently, a question about the isolation factor in coaching and the need for connecting with other Christian coaches was posted at a Linkedin online discussion forum. Here, I’m reposting a modified version of my response:

The key to dealing with isolation is to step into relationships. Email and phone conversations (often phone calls scheduled via email, because we’re coaches, right?) are a great way to get to know fellow coaches.

Feeling isolated and alone is so common among coaches. Without active, healthy relationships our perspectives can become skewed and we can become self-critical and depressed. If we are truly pursuing balance and health then we must make healthy relationships a priority. That involves putting time on the schedule to connect with others. And there is the problem – we don’t take the time to make the connections.

I have found great Christian coach connections within the Christian Coaches Network . When I think of my key connections – collegues who have become friends, I think of CCN.

There are many ways to connect with other Christian coaches; here are a few:

Put the time on the schedule and “just do it!”

Check with your training school for online, phone and in person groups.

Go to the online communities and participate (i.e. don’t just sign in and read – you must participate). Try the Christian Coaching Center and sign up with one or more community groups there.

Use Linkedin and Facebook, etc. Try the Christian Coaching Magazine group at Facebook.

Become a member of the Christian Coaches Network (CCN) and call in on Judy Santos’ monthly CCN calls.

Look on the CCN website – in the referral listings – to find a coach near you – and schedule coffee.

Definitely use email and phone calls – regularly – i.e. put the calls on on your calendar – and have fun!
